The Passover

Read Exodus Chapter 12

One of the most important days in the whole history of the Children of Israel was the Passover day.

They were finally to escape from being slaves in the land of Egypt,  and there was to be one last plague,  the death of the firstborn in all the land.

In order to stop the plague from killing the firstborn of the Children of Israel, they were to take a lamb and finally they were to kill it and eat it.

They were also to take the lamb’s blood and put in on the sides and above the door of their house.

They were to stay in the house on the passover night.

The Lord said. “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.”

The lesson is very clear for us.

The Lord Jesus is the Lamb of God who died for our sins and all who trust Him as Saviour are sheltered by His blood from judgement for sin and given Eternal Life
